A little while ago, while getting dressed for the day, I wanted to wear my new white trainers. I wasn’t sure though, if I could wear white trainers with black tights. I thought it looked good, but would other people?
I messaged my daughter, “Can I wear my new trainers with black tights?” Because I’m a natural born worrier and I trust her opinion.
She replied that I could wear whatever I want.
“But is it a thing that people do?” I asked.
She sent me a few screenshots from Google of people wearing white trainers with black tights “Looks like people definitely do. Just wear them! ”.
I messaged her one more time “What if they look weird?”
She replied “If you like wearing them and it makes you happy, then so what?”
In that moment I realised that my daughter is (at least sometimes) so much wiser than I am.
If something makes you happy (as long as you’re not hurting someone) then so what?
So what if someone doesn’t like what you’re wearing, or what music you listen to, or what TV you watch?
So what if you enjoy playing Pokemon Go, or Animal crossing 1 or any other game?
So what if you really love jumping in puddles, or sometimes you like to skip down the road, or if you want to make a daisy chain crown and wear it to Tesco?
None of us knows if the moment we have right now might be our very last, and if we aren’t doing something that makes us feel happy then what are we doing?
Why waste the moments we have worrying about doing the things that make us happy, just in case someone else finds them silly, because so what?
We only get one life, it may be long it may be short, but shouldn't it be the best life, shouldn't it be full of things we love, shouldn't we all say so what a bit more often and life the lives we want to live?
Wear the shoes, jump in puddles, dance, go to tesco in a tutu because so what?
